How to Create a Pinterest Board to Share With Your Photographer Before Your Session
So you booked your session. You are excited, maybe a little nervous, and now you are staring at your closet wondering what on earth you are going to wear.
Here is something that has genuinely changed the way we prepare for sessions at Brief Lens Studio: the Pinterest inspiration board.
Before your session, we ask every client to put together a Pinterest board and share it with us. It sounds simple, and it is. But the difference it makes is incredible. When we can see what you love before you ever walk through the door, we can set up lighting, suggest poses, and create images that actually feel like you rather than something generic.
Here is exactly how to do it, step by step.
Step 1: Create a New Board
Select "Create Board." Name it something simple like "Brief Lens Session" or "Photo Session Inspo." Set it to public so you can share the link with us later.
Step 2: Start Pinning What You Love
This is the fun part. Search for things like:
Pin anything that catches your eye. Do not overthink it. We are not looking for perfection, we are looking for patterns. If you keep saving images with warm tones and soft light, that tells us something. If you keep saving bold, dramatic portraits, that tells us something else. Save outfits, poses, backdrops, moods, colors, anything at all that makes you feel excited.
Step 3: Add Some Outfit Ideas
Pin two or three looks you genuinely like. We will use these as a starting point for our pre-session consultation to help you narrow down your best options.
Step 4: Share the Board With Us
Once your board has at least 10 to 15 pins, click on the board and copy the link from your browser. Send it to us at contact@brieflensstudio.com with your name and session date, and that is it. We will review it before your session and come prepared.
A Pinterest board is not just about aesthetics. It opens up a real conversation between us before your session even begins. It helps us understand your personality, your comfort level, and what kind of images you actually want to hang on your wall or use on your website. The more we know about you going in, the better your images are going to be.
It usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes to put together a board and it is honestly one of the most enjoyable parts of the booking process for our clients.
