Portrait Sessions at Brief Lens Studio: Everything You Want to Know
The idea of a portrait session can feel a little intimidating.
Maybe the last photo you loved of yourself was years ago. Maybe you have always said you are not photogenic. Maybe you have no idea what to wear, how to pose, or what the whole experience is actually going to feel like.
We hear this from almost every single client who walks through our door. And almost every single one of them leaves saying that was so much easier than I thought it would be.
So let us walk you through exactly what a portrait session at Brief Lens looks like, from beginning to end.
Before Your Session
After you book, you will receive our welcome packet and a short consultation form. We ask you a few questions about your goals, your style, and what you are hoping to get out of the session. We also ask you to put together a Pinterest inspiration board so we can get a feel for the look and mood you are drawn to.
We do a quick pre-session call or email exchange to go over everything, answer your questions, and make sure you feel completely prepared and excited walking in.
The Day of Your Session
Please arrive a few minutes early and come wearing your first outfit, already having done your hair and makeup. You are welcome to bring additional outfit options and change throughout the session.
When you arrive, we start with a few minutes of just talking. No camera in your face, no bright lights, just a normal conversation. We want you relaxed and comfortable before we ever start shooting. Most people are surprised by how quickly that nervous feeling fades.
During the Session
Here is the thing about posing: you do not need to know how to do it. We guide everything. We will direct your posture, your chin, your hands, the angle of your body, your expression, everything. You just follow along.
We also shoot tethered to a monitor a lot of the time, which means you can actually see your images as we take them. Clients love this because it builds confidence fast. Once you see how good you already look, the whole session shifts.
We work with professional studio lighting that wraps light around your face beautifully and renders skin tones in a way that no phone camera or natural light alone can replicate. You will notice the difference immediately.
What Kinds of Sessions Do We Offer
Professional Headshots: Clean, confident, polished images for LinkedIn, your website, or your company bio. Great for executives, entrepreneurs, and anyone building their personal brand.
Individual Portrait Sessions: A relaxed, guided session built entirely around you. Perfect if you want images that actually look and feel like who you are right now.
Family and Group Sessions: We make these fun and low pressure. Even if you have kids who hate sitting still, we know how to work with it.
Birthday Sessions: Whether it is a milestone birthday or a first birthday cake smash, we love celebrating with our camera.
Mini Sessions: A shorter, focused session for clients who want a few beautiful images without the full time commitment.
After Your Session
We spend several days carefully editing your images so that every single one we deliver looks polished and professional. You will receive your fully edited gallery within seven business days through a private online link. From there you can download your favorites, share them, or order fine art prints directly.
We do not deliver a hundred mediocre images. We deliver a curated gallery of images you are genuinely going to love.
